B.C. Lions re-sign Canadian defensive back Anthony Thompson

The B.C. Lions have re-signed Canadian defensive back Anthony Thompson.

The six-foot, 205-pound Thompson was selected in the second round, 12th overall during the 2016 CFL Draft.

The Montreal native is back with the squad after suiting up in 64 games over the previous four seasons in orange, including all 18 contests in each of his first three years. The versatile cover man has recorded 93 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, four interceptions plus one forced fumble in his career to date.

Thompson was a standout for Vanier College earning an NCAA scholarship to the University of California, Los Angeles. After redshirting in 2011, Thompson transferred to Southern Illinois University where he spent four seasons with the Salukis. Thompson played 46 games, 13 starts, eight of those coming in his senior season as the speedy defender made a team-high 55 tackles and defended four passes.
