Canadian offensive lineman David Brown signs with The Spring League

Per source, Canadian offensive lineman David Brown has signed a contract with The Spring League.

Brown was selected in the fourth round of the 2018 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders following a standout career at Western University. He was a two-time First-Team All-Canadian who would have been a top-ranked prospect were it not for an unfortunate injury.

The six-foot-four, 303-pound blocker suffered a torn ACL in the first half of the Vanier Cup in 2017, though he finished the game despite being hurt. He returned to Western for 2018 and spent most of the following year on Calgary’s practice roster. He was released by the team in January 2021.

The Spring League is a developmental program for professional football players looking to get another shot at the NFL. Some are paid to play, others play in exchange for room and board, while some pay to participate.

Brown is not the only Canadian participating in The Spring League this year. Lirim Hajrullahu was recently named Player of the Week following a record-breaking performance, while former first-round CFL Draft pick Jonathan Kongbo joined the league on Saturday.

Playing down south will give Brown an opportunity to prove that he’s healthy, prepared, and properly conditioned as he looks to garner his next CFL contract.
