Former CFL all-star linebacker Alex Singleton makes pick-six on Sunday Night Football

A former CFL star made the play of the game on Sunday Night Football.

Alex Singleton recorded a pick-six off San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Nick Mullens to put the Philadelphia Eagles up 25-14 in the fourth quarter and it helped close out a 25-20 victory.

The former Calgary Stampeder’s big play put his team in prime position to secure its first win of the 2020 season. Philly entered the matchup with San Fran 0-2-1.

Singleton was a first-round draft pick of the Stamps out of Montana State University in 2016. He was a two-time CFL all-star (2017, 2018) and earned the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player award in 2017.

Singleton had a standout training camp and pre-season with the Eagles in 2019. He was released among the final 53-man active roster cuts, although Philly wanted him to stay on the practice roster. He split last season between the active roster and practice roster in Philadelphia. He dressed for ten games and made five total tackles, playing predominantly on special teams.

After Sunday’s pick-six, it’s easy to imagine the national defender getting more snaps on the Eagles’ defence.
