Redblacks rollback salaries of all employees: report

The Ottawa Redblacks have reduced salary amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We’ve got to look after OSEG and make sure there’s a strong entity there at the other end of whatever this looks like. I also feel the weight of people’s personal situations — mortgages and bill payments — as do our owners,” team president Mark Goudie said in March.

The Redblacks are the latest team since the CFL’s decision to postpone the start of 2020 training camps to trim payroll within the organization. Montreal president Mario Cecchini said his team had no other choice but to take important measures. Meanwhile, the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation has let Stampeders employees know they will be taking pay cuts.

Commissioner Randy Ambrosie cancelled the CFL combines and is planning for contingencies. The financial impact of COVID-19 is being felt around the CFL.
