Jovon Johnson has ended one career and begun another.
The 12-year CFL veteran has taken a coaching job at Defiance College in Ohio.
It’s official @DCFBJackets I am happy to announce I have accepted a position as Defensive Backs Coach at Defiance College! I appreciate @MannyMatsakis for believing in me and @HawkeyeFootball Coach Parker for giving me the game! Now I teach the skills to the next generation! #2 pic.twitter.com/bdO7IYZvcl

Johnson played 188 total CFL games for four different teams (Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal) and was a very productive player making 564 tackles, 35 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles, scored eight touchdowns and notched eight sacks. The 35-year-old spent the first and last season of his career in Saskatchewan. He was a five-time East All-Star, two-time CFL All-Star, named the 2011 CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player and earned a Grey Cup ring in 2007.
Perhaps Johnson will return to the league as a coach in the future.
