All-time CFL receptions leader, Nik Lewis to join Lions coaching staff

Nik Lewis is starting his coaching career with the B.C. Lions.

Lewis was a guest coach with the Saskatchewan Roughriders during training camp last spring and officially retired as a player with the Calgary Stampeders in July.

The 36-year-old played 226 CFL games, winning two Grey Cups with Calgary, where he spent 11 seasons. He was named a CFL all-star three times, divisional all-star six times and passed Geroy Simon to become the CFL’s all-time receptions leader in 2017 with 1,051 for his career. Lewis ranks fifth in receiving yards in CFL history at 13,778, which is 2,574 yards behind the leader Simon (16,352) and caught 71 touchdowns.

Lewis has a close relationship with new Lions head coach DeVone Claybrooks.
