Duron Carter in Toronto visiting with Argos

Multiple sources say receiver Duron Carter is in Toronto and going to meet with the Argonauts.

The 27-year-old receiver was released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders on August 11. The Argos were one of four interested teams initially after he was let go.

Carter has the same agent, Mitch Frankel, as Toronto Raptors’ star Kawhi Leonard and the two athletes know each other well. That might play a role in Carter determining his next football squad and he feels there are a lot of perks to playing in Toronto.

During the 2017 season, Carter led the Riders in 2017 with 1,043 receiving yards and nine touchdowns (including one on defence) during the regular season, earning him the Riders Most Outstanding Player award. He re-signed in January and Carter was due to make $144,000 in hard money throughout the 2018 CFL season from Saskatchewan.

Carter made eight receptions for 111 yards while recording 13 tackles and an interception return for a touchdown plus one knockdown as a defensive back in seven games for the Riders this season.
Carter started his CFL career in Montreal when Jim Popp brought him to La Belle Province in 2013 and spent parts of three seasons with the Alouettes, he was an East all-star for the Als in 2014. Over 40 games with Montreal, Carter made 185 receptions for 2,877 yards and 17 touchdowns. Argos receiver  S.J. Green was teammates with Carter for parts of three seasons as Alouettes.
