Cover man Nick Marshall returns to Riders practice

Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Nick Marshall has returned to practice.

DB Nick Marshall, who has one game left on the six-game injured list, also is practising today. That’s standard operating procedure for players in their final week on the six-game.

Marshall was a Riders revelation who won the starting boundary corner spot in training camp and during his first regular season game in green and white he picked off Ricky Ray and returned it for the game-winning points in Saskatchewan’s 27-19 victory over Toronto. But in that game, Marshall suffered an injury which landed him on the six-game list.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Marshall as an undrafted free agent after he went unselected in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent parts of two seasons with the Jags and New York Jets, primarily as a returner and defensive back. He played in 21 career NFL games making 18 tackles, defending one pass and returning 25 kickoffs for 574 yards and 11 punts for 69 yards. The Jets waived Marshall after he was suspended four games for testing positive on performance-enhancing drugs and he spent 2017 as an NFL free agent.

With Marshall out the Riders have played Duron Carter at the boundary corner spot.
