Johnny Manziel: CFL or American startup league?

Johnny Manziel’s Spring League stint is over but the waiting game continues.

TSN reporter Dave Naylor believes Manziel could be making a decision between two leagues.

Apparently things are quiet on the @JManziel2 front, with @Ticats patiently waiting in wings. Only hurdle now seems would Johnny rather play in Alliance of American Football spring league in ‘19, which would allow for an NFL return that fall, instead of 2 full seasons in the CFL?

Manziel went 9 of 15 for 83 yards and one touchdown in the first Spring League game. In game two Manziel completed 10 of 16 passes for 188 yards with an interception while adding 27 yards and two touchdowns on six rushes. According to Johnny Manziel’s agent Erik Burkhardt, there has been “very real interest” from NFL teams after seeing Manziel practice and play in two Spring League games.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner CFL rights are owned by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. CFL training camps don’t officially open until May 20 with rookies reporting a few days before. So there is some time left for Manziel to make a decision between the CFL and Alliance of American Football.
