The Redblacks originally signed Jefferson to a one-year deal during free agency in February. He played two games for Ottawa this season.
The Fresno State product began his CFL career with Toronto and played two years with the Argos in 2015 and 2016. In 30 games he made 91 tackles and six interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
Before coming to the CFL, Jefferson played four seasons in the NFL, split between the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings. He made 109 tackles, knocked down 19 passes and intercepted two passes in 43 games.
