The 29-year-old tore his right ACL and meniscus in a game against Saskatchewan on October 7. He was leaping to try and catch a pass against Roughriders’ defensive back Justin Cox. Williams had successful surgery in Ottawa in late October.
The five-foot-nine, 155-pounder had 77 receptions for 1,246 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games prior to suffering the season-ending setback. That made it three straight 1,200-yard CFL years and four 1,000-yard campaigns in four CFL seasons for the diminutive playmaker.
