B.C. Lions sign versatile Donovan ‘D.K.’ Kaufman, one other

The B.C. Lions have signed American defensive backs Donovan ‘D.K.’ Kaufman and Duron Lowe.

Kaufman attended rookie minicamp and training camp with the Seattle Seahawks as a running back after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft. He was waived by the team in August.

The five-foot-ten, 210-pound native of New Orleans, La. started his collegiate career at Vanderbilt in 2020, suiting up in two games and recording 15 total tackles. He transferred to Auburn for the next three seasons and made 107 total tackles, six fumble recoveries, two sacks, and four pass breakups in 32 games.

Kaufman transferred to North Carolina State for his final collegiate seasons and dressed for 12 games. He made 74 total tackles, one interception, one sack, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and five pass breakups. He also returned 15 kickoffs for 469 yards.

Lowe attended training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2025, though he was released by the team in mid-May.

The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound defender has previously played for the UFL’s Arlington Renegades, making five tackles, one interception, and one pass breakup in four games.

Lowe signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but didn’t make the team’s final roster. He had subsequent training camp stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The native of Overland Park, Kan. finished his collegiate career at Liberty University where he made 31 total tackles, two interceptions, and six pass breakups in 13 games.

The B.C. Lions finished second in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record and beat the Calgary Stampeders in the West Semi-Final before losing the West Final to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Nathan Rourke threw for 5,290 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 16 regular-season starts, posting an 11-5 record. He was also named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player.

The Lions ranked first in net offence, fourth in net defence, and sixth with a turnover differential of minus-four. James Butler rushed for 1,213 yards, Keon Hatcher led the CFL with 1,688 receiving yards, and Micah Awe led the league with 117 tackles. B.C. finished third in attendance with average crowds of 27,124, which was a 0.9 percent increase from the previous year.
