Don’t sleep on it: Stamps re-sign versatile DB Branden Dozier

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed American defensive back Branden Dozier ahead of the opening of free agency on February 13.

The 30-year-old started 16 of his 17 appearances for Calgary in 2023, suiting up for 11 games at safety and five at strong-side linebacker. He made 63 tackles, seven special teams tackles, two sacks, and two fumble recoveries, including one that he returned for a touchdown. Dozier also started the Western Semi-Final at SAM and made four tackles.

The six-year veteran originally joined the Stampeders in 2020 after stops with the Montreal Alouettes and B.C. Lions and is entering his fourth season with the club. In 88 career regular-season games, the UNC Charlotte product has amassed 352 defensive tackles, 71 special-teams tackles, five sacks, eight interceptions, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 21 pass knockdowns.

The Stampeders will open their 2024 season on Friday, June 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
