Jevon Holland is one of 58 players who will be involved in the live developments of the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.
13 players are attending the draft on-site in Cleveland, including Heisman Trophy winner Davonta Smith, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, and elite tight end Kyle Pitts.
Holland is among the 45 players who will participate virtually in the draft festivities. Also among them are presumed first-overall pick Trevor Lawrence, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, and Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell.
The Canadian’s inclusion in the draft festivities proves how highly-coveted he is by teams around the NFL. Holland is generally projected as a second or third-round selection, though there is a chance he could sneak into the bottom of the first round if a team decides he’s a perfect fit for their defence.
Holland sat out the 2020 NCAA season to focus on training for professional football amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The son of former CFL all-star defensive back Robert Holland was born in Coquitlam, B.C. during his father’s stint with the Lions.
The Oregon product had a strong sophomore season in 2019 and was a semi-finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award as NCAA football’s top defensive back. He notched 66 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, defended eight passes while intercepting four more — tied for most in the Pac-12 Conference. The six-foot-one, 200-pounder also returned 16 punts for 244 yards, including a long of 81 yards.
Holland is also available to be selected in the 2021 CFL Draft, though he’ll be unlikely to garner much attention as a potential NFL star.
The 2021 NFL Draft will take place from April 29 to May 1.
