The Montreal Alouettes have signed veteran defensive lineman Almondo Sewell, per leagues sources.
It’s a two-year contract through the 2022 season.
The six-foot-four, 288-pound interior defender has posted 282 tackles and 60 sacks over 139 dominant games in Edmonton. The six-time league all-star won a Grey Cup with the team in 2015 and is one of the most disruptive linemen in the CFL.
Sewell originally joined Edmonton in June of 2011 before a brief stint with the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League in 2012. He re-joined the club in June of 2012 and remained with the team until general manager Brock Sunderland announced Sewell would not be back with the green and gold in 2021.
