The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed national kicker Gabriel Ferraro.
Ferraro was selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the seventh round, 59th overall during the 2018 CFL draft. He spent training camp with the Stamps, making his only field goal attempt in the pre-season against Saskatchewan from 29 yards out, prior to returning to university for his final year of eligibility.
The University of Guelph product set the USports record for field goals made in a season with 33 in 2017 and tied for the most ever through a career 91-of- 117 (77 per cent). During his last year with the Gryphons, Ferraro made 22-of-31 field goal attempts (71 per cent) with a long of 47 yards. He punted 58 times for 2,153 yards (38.4 average).
Ferraro was the only kicker drafted in 2018.
