So Calgary running back Jerome Messam was apparently watching the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the New England Patriots on Sunday when he saw something… familiar.
With 12 seconds to go, the Steelers down by three and his team at the New England seven-yard line, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger faked spiking the ball then tried to throw a game-winning touchdown pass in the end zone. The ball was tipped, then intercepted and the Patriots won.
This was Messam’s reaction.

Now, it’s easy to read too much into a Tweet but the missive comes on the heels of the Stampeders’ recent loss to the Toronto Argonauts in the Grey Cup – a game in which Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell was intercepted in the end zone while trying to throw a game-winning touchdown pass with his team in field goal range.

Reaction to Messam’s Tweet were, as usual, on point and laden with quality gifs… let’s start with Rider offensive lineman Derek Dennis.

And Calgary teammate Marquay McDaniel…

And there’s plenty more where that came from. Anyway, Messam tried to downplay the reaction to his initial Tweet with another Tweet (though, to his credit, he didn’t delete the original.)

We appreciate the advice, though.
