Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea: Paul LaPolice extended contract for 2018 season

Published on

Winnipeg head coach Mike O’Shea announced that offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice has signed a contract extension with the Bombers through the 2018 season.

LaPolice directed the league’s highest-scoring offence (554 points) in 2017. He’s been a key in quarterback Matt Nichols taking his game to a new level (quarterback coach Buck Pierce deserves some credit as well) while Andrew Harris had his most dynamic season under LaPolice as did receiver Darvin Adams. The 47-year-old signed a two-year agreement before the 2016 season, which meant 2017 was the final year of that pact.

The offensive guru was a candidate for the Montreal Alouettes who have an open head coach position, but the extension for 2018, as O’Shea said, means LaPolice is happy with his current role in Winnipeg.
