Former Most Outstanding Rookie Tristan Okpalaugo agrees to terms with Bombers

Published on

Defensive end Tristan Okpalaugo has agreed to sign with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, per sources.

He chose Winnipeg over a return to Toronto, those teams were his final two.

The 27-year-old played two seasons with the Argonauts registering 23 sacks in 36 games. He earned East Division Most Outstanding Rookie honours in 2014 after registering 12 sacks. The six-foot-six, 250-pounder signed with the Arizona Cardinals last February but injured his hamstring in the final pre-season game and was released in September.

Okpalaugo provides a legitimate pass rusher to pair with Canadian Jamaal Westerman who finished second in the league with 17 sacks last season on his way to being named a CFL all-star.
