The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed five American players, including receivers Jahmal Banks and Gerald Monroe, offensive linemen Tyler Elsbury and Joe More, and defensive back Cam McCutcheon.
Banks played collegiately at the University of Nebraska in 2024 where he made 44 catches for 587 yards and three touchdowns. The six-foot-four, 220-pound native of Washington, D.C. previously played at Wake Forest University, where he made 107 receptions for 1,404 yards and 13 scores. He was named honourable mention All-ACC in 2022.
The 24-year-old had a stint with the Baltimore Ravens after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft. He made one catch for six yards during the preseason but didn’t make the team’s final roster.
Monroe caught 249 catches for 4,297 yards and 58 touchdowns over four collegiate seasons at Graceland University, an NAIA program located in Lamoni, Ia. The five-foot-ten, 185-pound native of Glenn Heights, Texas also threw for one touchdown and returned 14 total kicks for 180 yards. The 23-year-old was named first-team AFCA NAIA All-American, first-team All-Heart North, and the Heart North Offensive Player of the Year in 2024.
Elsbury spent part of the 2025 season on Winnipeg’s practice roster, though he didn’t see any regular-season CFL action. The six-foot-six, 333-pound native of Byron, Ill. played collegiately at the University of Iowa where he started seven games at guard. He also attended rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks in 2025.
More finished his collegiate career at the University of Arkansas in 2024 where he took snaps at centre and right tackle, though he didn’t make any starts. The six-foot-five, 311-pound blocker previously played at Syracuse University and Richmond University. He started 36 games for the Spiders primarily at right tackle and was named third-team All-CAA in 2022.
McCutcheon has had NFL stints with the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers over the last three years, though he never saw any regular-season action with the teams. The six-foot-one, 204-pound native of Seneca, S.C. finished his collegiate career at Western Carolina where he made 79 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, eight pass knockdowns, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery over 22 games.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as the crossover team before losing the East Semi-Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 13 regular-season games, going 6-7 as a starter.
The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offence, third in net defence, and eighth with a turnover differential of minus-eleven. The club’s leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, leading receiver was Nic Demski with 1,001 yards, and leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with average crowds of 32,343, which was a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
