Saskatchewan Roughriders reach 30,000 ticket sales for West Final

Published on

The Saskatchewan Roughriders appear on track to sell-out this year’s West Final as they’ve already sold 30,000 tickets for the big game.

“With just over 3,000 seats remaining, fans are encouraged to secure their tickets now and help pack the stadium for one of the biggest games of the year,” wrote the team in a statement. “The Roughriders are calling on fans across Saskatchewan and beyond to paint the stands green and make Mosaic Stadium the loudest it’s ever been!”

Saskatchewan hosted the West Semi-Final last season but had only 26,125 fans in attendance for their 28-19 win over the B.C. Lions, a figure the club blamed on having a relatively short period of time to sell tickets. Having clinched first place in the West Division almost one month ago, team president and CEO Craig Reynolds said the team would “make sure” to sell-out this year’s West Final.

The Roughriders last hosted the West Final in 2019 when a sold-out crowd of 33,300 witnessed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers earn a 20-13 upset as a late pass from Cody Fajardo banged off the uprights, resulting in a dead ball.

The winner of Saturday’s playoff game will qualify for the 112th Grey Cup at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg against the Montreal Alouettes or Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-6) will host the B.C. Lions (12-7) in the West Final at Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Saturday, November 8 with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. EST. The Lions defeated the Calgary Stampeders by a score of 33-30 in the West Semi-Final, while the Roughriders were on bye after finishing atop the West Division standings.

The weather forecast in Regina calls for a high of minus-three degrees with a 60 percent chance of flurries. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 730 CKNW in Vancouver and 620 CKRM in Regina.
