The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive lineman Decarius Hawthorne.

The six-foot-two, 290-pound defender played at the University of South Florida in 2024 where he was named second-team All-AAC, recording 40 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

The native of Birmingham, Ala. previously played at Florida Atlantic University where he made 46 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and five sacks over four seasons.

Hawthorne had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this season. This marks the first time he’s signed a CFL contract.

The Montreal Alouettes (10-8) will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-8) in the East Semi-Final at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday, November 1 with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. EDT. The two teams met at Princess Auto Stadium in the final week of the regular season as the Blue Bombers came away with a 19-10 victory.

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 8 degrees with rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN, RDS, and CTV in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and TSN 690 in Montreal.
