Redblacks re-sign American DB Money Hunter: report

The Ottawa Redblacks are re-signing veteran defensive back Monshadrik ‘Money’ Hunter, according to a report from TSN 1200‘s A.J. Jakubec.

The 28-year-old missed the majority of the 2023 season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle during a training camp scrimmage, playing in just the final four games and recording 11 tackles. He started 12 games for the team in 2022, his first season as a Redblack, producing 38 tackles and four interceptions, setting a new career high.

The six-foot-one, 193-pound cover man broke into the league as a member of the Edmonton Elks in 2018 and played two seasons with the team, making 85 defensive tackles 11 special teams tackles, four interceptions, and one sack over 30 games with the team.

Hunter signed with the Montreal Alouettes in February 2020 and made his debut with the team in August 2021 following the cancellation of the 2020 CFL season. He made 44 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, two interceptions, and one sack with the club and was named an East Division all-star.

In 60 CFL games, the Arkansas State product has registered 178 defensive tackles, 12 special teams tackles, two sacks, and 10 interceptions.

The Redblacks will begin their 2024 season when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
