The Montreal Alouettes have signed five American players, including receiver Jose Barbon, defensive lineman Antonio Moultrie, linebacker C.J. Avery, and defensive backs Myles Brooks and Timarcus Davis.
Barbon went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but has since had stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Calgary Stampeders. The five-foot-eleven, 182-pound target caught 138 passes for 1,608 yards and four touchdowns at Temple University, finishing his collegiate career as the fourth-leading receiver in Owls history.
Moultrie signed with the Green Bay Packers after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but was waived at the conclusion of training camp. The six-foot-four, 265-pound defender made 14 tackles and one forced fumble after transferring to the University of Miami Hurricanes for his final year of NCAA eligibility. The native of Pensacola, Fla. was a second-team All-CUSA selection in 2020 while playing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Avery made 249 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, three interceptions, and 19 pass knockdowns over 59 games at the University of Louisville. The six-foot, 230-pound native of Grenada, Miss. signed with the Chicago Bears in 2022 but was waived with an injury designation.
Brooks signed with the Dallas Cowboys after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but was waived at the conclusion of training camp. The six-foot-one, 198-pound defender was named second-team All-CUSA in 2022 as a member of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, earning an invitation to the NFL Combine.
Davis signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but was waived near the end of training camp. The six-foot, 180-pound cover man played four collegiate seasons at Arizona State University and made 85 total tackles, 10 pass knockdowns, three interceptions, and one fumble recovery.
