Calgary Stampeders agree to terms with Devodric Bynum: sources

The Calgary Stampeders have agreed to terms with American defensive back Devodric Bynum, per sources. It’s a one-year deal for 2026.

The 26-year-old played only five regular-season games due to injury in 2025, recording 17 defensive tackles.

The five-foot-eleven, 195-pound defender played 14 regular-season games as a CFL rookie in 2024, making 23 defensive tackles, five interceptions, and one forced fumble.

The native of Dallas, Texas played collegiately at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Pending CFL free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the communication window, which closes on Sunday, February 8. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular franchise, however, the deals are not legally binding and can’t be made official until after free agency opens on Tuesday, February 10.

The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions over 17 regular-season starts, posting a 11-6 record as the team’s starting quarterback.

The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offence, seventh in net defence, and second with a turnover differential of plus-nine. Dedrick Mills won the CFL’s rushing title with 1,409 yards, while the team’s leading receiver was Dominique Rhymes with 886 yards, and leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary finished fifth in attendance with average crowds of 22,295, which was a 3.5 percent increase from the previous year.
