The Toronto Argonauts have signed Canadian linebacker Cameron Judge to a contract extension. He was already under contract for 2027.
The 31-year-old native of Montreal, Que. made 79 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one touchdown over 18 regular-season games. He was a full-time starter at weak-side linebacker.
The six-foot-one, 230-pound defender was originally a first-round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft out of UCLA. Over 118 regular-season games, Judge has recorded 435 defensive tackles, 26 special teams tackles, 18 sacks, 11 interceptions, nine forced fumbles, and two touchdowns with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, and Argonauts.
Judge was the West Division’s nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian in 2019 and was named All-CFL in 2022.
The Argonauts have also signed American running back Sam Hicks and American defensive back Owen Goss.
Hicks played collegiately at Abilene Christian University in 2024, where he rushed for 1,333 yards, caught 45 passes for 341 yards, and scored 17 touchdowns to be named AP second-team All-American. The five-foot-nine, 190-pound native of Fort Worth, Texas previously played at Central Michigan, Saddleback College, and Oklahoma State.
Goss played collegiately at the University of Arizona in 2024, making 52 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two pass knockdowns, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one sack. The six-foot, 202-pound native of Hinsdale, Ill. was previously named first-team All-Patriot League while played at Colgate University.
The Toronto Argonauts finished third in the East Division standings in 2025 with a 5-13 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Franchise quarterback Chad Kelly was unable to play all season due to a fractured leg he suffered in the East Final the previous year, giving way to Nick Arbuckle, who threw for 4,370 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions to be named the team’s candidate for Most Outstanding Player.
The Argonauts ranked seventh in net offence, sixth in net defence, and seventh with a turnover differential of minus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was Spencer Brown with 314 yards, leading receiver was Dejon Brissett with 907 yards, and leading tackler was Cameron Judge with 79 tackles. Toronto ranked ninth in attendance with average crowds of 15,109, which was a 0.1 percent decrease from the previous year.
