The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American quarterback Jordan McCloud.
The six-foot, 205-pound passer finished his collegiate career at Texas State in 2024 where he completed 70.0 percent of his passes for 3,227 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He also ran 74 times for 278 yards and seven scores to be named third-team All-Sun Belt with the Bobcats.
McCloud was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2023 while playing at James Madison University. He completed 68.2 percent of his passes for 3,657 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions that season and rushed for 276 yards and eight scores.
The native of Tampa, Fla. started his collegiate career at South Florida and Arizona. He threw for 2,770 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions with the former in 2019 and 2020, then 481 yards, two touchdowns, and five interceptions with the latter in 2021.
In total, McCloud completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 10,135 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 38 interceptions over 49 collegiate games. He also rushed for 986 yards and 20 scores.
McCloud attended rookie minicamp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025 but was not signed to a contract.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders finished first in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 12-6 record, finishing first in the West Division for the first time since 2019. The team went on to defeat the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, marking the team’s first championship in 12 years. Trevor Harris went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
The Roughriders ranked second in net offence, second in net defence, and tied for third with a turnover differential of plus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was A.J. Ouellette with 1,222 yards, leading receiver was KeeSean Johnson with 1,159 yards, and leading tackler was A.J. Allen with 91 tackles. Saskatchewan finished second in attendance with average crowds of 28,427, which was a 2.7 percent increase from the previous year.
