Montreal Alouettes extend rookie standout Travis Theis through 2027

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American running back Travis Theis to a contract extension through 2027.

The five-foot-nine, 208-pound ball-carrier rushed 70 times for 365 yards and caught 19 passes for 162 yards as a CFL rookie in 2025. He also returned 19 kickoffs for 364 yards and 13 punts for 175 yards and one touchdown.

“Travis is capable of wearing many hats on our team and allows us to surprise our opponents at times,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “We were very pleased with his rookie season with us in 2025. We expect him to continue to grow, which will be very positive for our team.”

The 25-year-old native of Pratt, Kan. was Montreal’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie. He worked out for the Minnesota Vikings in December, though it doesn’t appear as though he was offered a contract extension.

The Alouettes have also signed American defensive lineman David Perales through 2027.

The six-foot-three, 245-pound defender finished his collegiate career at Fresno State, where he recorded 118 total tackles, 37.5 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, nine forced fumbles, six pass knockdowns, two fumble recoveries, and one interception over 33 games.

The 26-year-old previously played at Sacramento State.
