Calgary Stampeders bring back local linebacker Micah Teitz

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed Canadian linebacker Micah Teitz. He was a pending free agent.

The six-foot-two, 230-pound defender played 18 regular-season games in 2025 and made 13 starts, recording 48 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, and one pass knockdown.

The 29-year-old native of Calgary, Alta. was originally selected in the second round of the 2018 CFL Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Over 94 career regular-season CFL games, he’s recorded 185 defensive tackles, 52 special teams tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interceptions, and four pass knockdowns.

Teitz played collegiately at the University of Calgary where he made 191 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three forced fumbles, and nine pass knockdowns. He was a two-time Canada West all-star and a one-time second-team U Sports All-Canadian.

The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions over 17 regular-season starts, posting a 11-6 record as the team’s starting quarterback.

The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offence, seventh in net defence, and second with a turnover differential of plus-nine. Dedrick Mills won the CFL’s rushing title with 1,409 yards, while the team’s leading receiver was Dominique Rhymes with 886 yards, and leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary finished fifth in attendance with average crowds of 22,295, which was a 3.5 percent increase from the previous year.
