Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign former five-star recruit Trejan Bridges

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed American receiver Trejan Bridges.

The native of Carrollton, Texas started his collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma, where he caught nine passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns over two seasons. He was initially a five-star recruit coming out of Hebron High School in Texas.

In 2021, ESPN reported that Bridges and a teammate had been charged with robbery, conspiracy, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. As a result, both players were dismissed from Oklahoma’s football program.

The six-foot-one, 185-pound target played at East Los Angeles College in 2022 and caught 59 passes for 762 yards and eight touchdowns over 11 games.

In 2023, The Oklahoman reported that Bridges and his teammate pleaded guilty to larceny from a person at nighttime. The following year, they were sentenced to one year of probation after participating in a prison bootcamp.

Bridges transferred to Central Arkansas in 2024, where he caught 53 passes for 748 yards and six touchdowns. He reportedly filed multiple eligibility waivers with the NCAA to play in 2025, though he was denied by the organization.

The Tiger-Cats have also re-signed Canadian offensive lineman Jakub Szott. The native of Toronto, Ont. played 14 regular-season games in a depth role with the Tiger-Cats in 2025.

The six-foot-three, 290-pound blocker has now played 42 regular-season CFL games as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks, Montreal Alouettes, Tiger-Cats, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Edmonton Elks since he was a fourth-round pick in the 2020 CFL Draft out of McMaster University.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Player.

The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and first with a turnover differential of plus-ten. The club’s leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and leading tackler was Stavros Katsantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with average crowds of 22,858, which was a 3.9 percent increase from the previous year.
