Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign Oregon receiver turned UCLA safety Bryan Addison

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American defensive back Bryan Addison.

The six-foot-five, 195-pound prospect wrapped up his collegiate career in 2024 at UCLA, where he started 11 of 12 games at safety. He finished the year with 43 total tackles, one tackle for loss, seven pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and two interceptions, including a 96-yard defensive touchdown.

Addison transferred from the University of Oregon, where he played 54 games and registered 51 total tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, six pass breakups, and one forced fumble. A former four-star recruit, the native of Gardena, Cal., began as a receiver for the Ducks in 2018 and caught 19 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown in his first two years before flipping to defence.

Despite his unique frame and backstory, Addison went unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft and did not sign as an undrafted free agent.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as the crossover team before losing the East Semi-Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 13 regular-season games, going 6-7 as a starter.

The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offence, third in net defence, and eighth with a turnover differential of minus-eleven. The club’s leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, the leading receiver was Nic Demski with 1,001 yards, and the leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with average crowds of 32,343, which was a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
