The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed pending free-agent defensive lineman Charles Wiley. According to 3DownNation reporter John Hodge, it’s a one-year contract extension for the 2026 season.
The six-foot-two, 274-pound defender made 17 defensive tackles, one tackle for loss, and five sacks of 15 regular-season games in 2025. He primarily filled a rotational role, starting only two regular-season games at defensive end.
The 27-year-old native of Atlanta, Ga. joined the team in 2024 when he made 12 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and two sacks over 10 regular-season games.
Wiley played his last two collegiate seasons at the University of Texas at San Antonio where he made 70 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two pass knockdowns, three fumble recoveries, and one touchdown over 26 games.
The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions over 17 regular-season starts, posting a 11-6 record.
The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offence, seventh in net defence, and second with a turnover differential of plus-nine. Dedrick Mills won the CFL’s rushing title with 1,409 yards, while the team’s leading receiver was Dominique Rhymes with 886 yards, and leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary finished fifth in attendance with average crowds of 22,295, which was a 3.5 percent increase from the previous year.
