Saskatchewan Roughriders sign deep threat Ali Jennings III

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American receiver Ali Jennings III.

The six-foot-two, 200-pound target finished his collegiate career at Virginia Tech where he made 20 catches for 444 yards and five touchdowns. He dressed for 14 games over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, making five starts.

The native of Richmond, Va. started his collegiate at the University of West Virginia where he made 26 receptions for 240 yards and two touchdowns. He later transferred to Old Dominion where he caught 116 passes for 2,025 yards and 14 touchdowns, earning a first-team All-Sun Belt selection in 2022.

In total, the deep threat made 162 catches for 2,710 yards and 21 touchdowns over 54 collegiate games.

Jennings III attended rookie minicamp with the Green Bay Packers after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft but did not sign a contract with the team.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders finished first in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 12-6 record, finishing first in the West Division for the first time since 2019. The team went on to defeat the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, marking the team’s first championship in 12 years. Trevor Harris went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

The Roughriders ranked second in net offence, second in net defence, and tied for third with a turnover differential of plus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was A.J. Ouellette with 1,222 yards, leading receiver was KeeSean Johnson with 1,159 yards, and leading tackler was A.J. Allen with 91 tackles. Saskatchewan finished second in attendance with average crowds of 28,427, which was a 2.7 percent increase from the previous year.
