The Toronto Argonauts have re-signed three veterans, including American linebacker Isaac Darkangelo, American receiver Jake Herslow, and Canadian receiver David Ungerer III.

Darkangelo made 60 defensive tackles, 22 special teams tackles, four forced fumbles, and two sacks over 18 regular-season games. The native of Brighton, Mi. mostly filled a depth role, though he also made five starts at middle linebacker.

The six-foot-one, 230-pound defender joined the Argonauts in 2024 and made 35 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, and one forced fumble as a CFL rookie. He helped the team win the Grey Cup.

The 25-year-old played collegiately at University of Illinois before professional stints with the Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, and Michigan Panthers. He didn’t see any regular-season NFL action.

Herslow had a breakout season in 2025, making 59 catches for 756 yards and nine touchdowns over 13 regular-season games. He played one regular-season game in 2024, making two receptions for 55 yards and one score.

The six-foot, 185-pound native of Virginia Beach, Va. had a stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023, though he didn’t see any regular-season action. He has also been a member of the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Roughnecks.

Ungerer III made 53 grabs for 653 yards and two touchdowns over 18 regular-season starts in 2025, setting new career-highs in catches and yardage. The five-foot-nine, 171-pound target has caught 159 passes for 2,113 yards and eight touchdowns over 86 career regular-season CFL games as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Argonauts.

Though born in Pullman, Wash., Ungerer III qualified for Canadian status through his mother, Sylvia, who was born in Toronto. He was originally a second-round pick in the 2019 CFL Draft by the Tiger-Cats.

The Toronto Argonauts finished third in the East Division standings in 2025 with a 5-13 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Franchise quarterback Chad Kelly was unable to play all season due to a fractured leg he suffered in the East Final the previous year, giving way to Nick Arbuckle, who threw for 4,370 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions to be named the team’s candidate for Most Outstanding Player.

The Argonauts ranked seventh in net offence, sixth in net defence, and seventh with a turnover differential of minus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was Spencer Brown with 314 yards, leading receiver was Dejon Brissett with 907 yards, and leading tackler was Cameron Judge with 79 tackles. Toronto ranked ninth in attendance with average crowds of 15,109, which was a 0.1 percent decrease from the previous year.
