Kansas City Chiefs work out Calgary Stampeders DL Clarence Hicks

The Kansas City Chiefs worked out Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman Clarence Hicks on Monday, per the NFL’s transactions wire.

The 27-year-old was named All-West Division in 2025 after making 28 defensive tackles, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles over 18 regular-season starts at defensive end.

The six-foot-two, 229-pound defender first joined the Stampeders in 2024 and made 14 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, four sacks, and two interceptions as a rookie.

The native of Pensacola, Fla. had stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Sea Dragons prior to signing in the CFL. He played 38 collegiate games at the University of Texas at San Antonio, recording 108 total tackles, 31.0 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, five pass knockdowns, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

Hicks is currently set to become a CFL free agent in February.

The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions over 17 regular-season starts, posting a 11-6 record.

The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offence, seventh in net defence, and second with a turnover differential of plus-nine. Dedrick Mills won the CFL’s rushing title with 1,409 yards, while the team’s leading receiver was Dominique Rhymes with 886 yards, and leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary finished fifth in attendance with average crowds of 22,295, which was a 3.5 percent increase from the previous year.
