Montreal Alouettes sign Quebec-born LB Geoffrey Cantin-Arku to two-year contract extension

The Montreal Alouettes have signed Quebec-born linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season.

The six-foot-four, 230-pound defender has not missed a single game in two years since joining the Als. During the 2025 regular season, he recorded 38 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, four sacks, three forced fumbles, and one interception.

In his first CFL season in 2024, the Lévis, Quebec native registered 33 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, five sacks and one interception. He was named Montreal’s Most Outstanding Rookie in after his initial season.

“Geoffrey has done a very good job since joining us and he deserves this vote of confidence,” general manager Danny Maciocia said in a statement. “He keeps improving and taking on more and more responsibility. We are very pleased with this agreement.”

The Alouettes selected Cantin-Arku in the first round, ninth overall during the 2024 CFL Draft. Collegiately, he played two seasons with the University of Memphis Tigers after three seasons with the Syracuse Orange from 2019 to 2021.

In May 2024, Cantin-Arku participated in Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp.

The Alouettes finished second in the East Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record and beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Final before losing the 112th Grey Cup to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Davis Alexander went 7-0 as a starter during the regular-season, though he missed 11 games due to a hamstring injury.

The Alouettes ranked eighth in net offence, first in net defence, and third for third with a turnover differential of plus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was Stevie Scott III with 418 yards, leading receiver was Tyler Snead with 1,129 yards, and leading tackler was Darnell Sankey with 103 tackles. Montreal finished sixth in attendance with average crowds of 21,132, which was a 0.8 percent decrease from the previous year.
