For whom the Bell tolls: Calgary Stampeders re-sign versatile OL Bryce Bell

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed Canadian offensive lineman Bryce Bell.

The six-foot-four, 301-pound blocker was the Stampeders’ starting centre in 2025, before being sidelined with a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 2. He has made starts at tackle, guard and centre over his five seasons in Calgary, establishing himself as one of the league’s most versatile big men.

“Bryce is a guy we drafted, and when healthy, he’s been a big part of our success,” Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson said in a statement. “Bryce makes us better, and we’re looking forward to having him come back strong in 2026. With his versatility, we expect to have great competition at offensive line during training camp.”

The Stampeder originally selected Bell in the second round of the 2021 CFL Draft out of Wilfrid Laurier University. He has appeared in 55 regular-season games and made 32 starts for the team, while also suiting up for three playoff contests.

“Calgary has been my home for the past five years, and I’ve fallen in love with the team and with the city,” Bell said as part of the announcement. “Winning the Grey Cup is always the goal, and to have the chance to do that at home in 2026 is super exciting. I can’t wait to be back.”

The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, but lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions over 17 regular-season starts, posting an 11-6 record.

The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offence, seventh in net defence, and second with a turnover differential of plus-nine. Dedrick Mills won the CFL’s rushing title with 1,409 yards, while the team’s leading receiver was Dominique Rhymes with 886 yards, and the leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary finished fifth in attendance with average crowds of 22,295, which was a 3.5 percent increase from the previous year.
