Saskatchewan Roughriders’ offensive lineman Logan Ferland has earned the 2025 Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award.
Presented annually since 2010, the award is named in honour of former CFL commissioner Jake Gaudaur, a distinguished veteran of the Second World War. It recognizes a Canadian player who best demonstrates the attributes of Canada’s veterans — strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship and contribution to Canadian communities.
The Melfort, Saskatchewan native dressed all 18 regular-season games for the Riders and started the West Final win over the B.C. Lions to help his team reach the 112th Grey Cup. The six-foot-four, 300-pounder was a mainstay at centre for Saskatchewan after Sean McEwen suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp.
Riders’ long-snapper Jorgen Hus took home the award in 2024, Green and White receiver Brayden Lenius won in 2023 and offensive lineman Dan Clark took it home in 2022. Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ offensive lineman Chris Van Zeyl won in 2021, while Montreal Alouettes’ long-snapper Martin Bedard was honoured in 2019.
This year’s recipient was chosen by a committee made up of Deborah Bethell from Veterans Affairs Canada, CFL on TSN analyst and former honorary colonel of the 417 Combat Support Squadron Glen Suitor, CFL Players’ Association executive director David Mackie, and CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston.
