Saskatchewan Huskies receiver Daniel Wiebe has been named the Canada West Football Player of the Year.
The five-foot-nine, 190-pound native of Saskatoon, Sask. caught 66 passes for 1,054 yards and 12 touchdowns over nine games, leading the conference in all three categories. He also set new program records for single-season and career touchdown receptions.
Wiebe was an eighth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders and attended training camp with the club, though he was sent back to school at its conclusion. He has made 205 catches for 2,862 yards and 26 touchdowns over 43 career U Sports games.
The Huskies dominated this year’s Canada West awards as Charlie Parks was named Outstanding Lineman, Seth Hundeby was named Outstanding Defensive Player, and Scott Flory was named Coach of the Year.
Calgary Dinos receiver Zion Grant was named Rookie of the Year, while Alberta Golden Bears receiver Chevy Thomas won the Student-Athlete Community Service Award.
Each winner will represent Canada West at the national level for U Sports awards.
