Winnipeg’s Nic Demski: ‘I don’t want to play with another quarterback’ than Zach Collaros

Nic Demski might be a pending free-agent but the veteran receiver knows who he wants throwing him the football come 2026.

“Zach (Collaros) is signed for next year, so that’s great — that’s my quarterback,” Demski recently told the media. “I don’t want to play with another quarterback than him.”

The five-foot-eleven, 212-pound receiver, who will turn 32 next month, has become a star since Collaros joined the Blue Bombers in 2019, earning five-straight All-West Division selections and three-straight 1,000-yard seasons.

Demski led Winnipeg in every receiving category this year as he made 67 catches for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns. He was the league’s fourth-highest-paid receiver in 2025, earning $225,000.

It remains unclear where the University of Manitoba product will play next season, though it’s clear he’d like to be back with the Blue Bombers.

“I don’t really know what’s going to happen with all the change or if there is change or what the next five, six months are going to look like, but within my situation, I want to be here. I love it here, this is home to me,” said Demski. “I don’t want my situation to change.”

Demski was unable to play in the East Semi-Final due to a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 19, though he indicated he was “super close” to doing so. He told 3DownNation that he likely would have played in the East Final had the Blue Bombers qualified for the game.

Winnipeg has 33 players currently set to hit the open market in February, including Demski, Brady Oliveira, Dalton Schoen, Stanley Bryant, Patrick Neufeld, Willie Jefferson, Evan Holm, Deatrick Nichols, and Sergio Castillo.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as the crossover team before losing the East Semi-Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 13 regular-season games, going 6-7 as a starter.

The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offence, third in net defence, and eighth with a turnover differential of minus-eleven. The club’s leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, leading receiver was Demski with 1,001 yards, and leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with average crowds of 32,343, which was a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
