Montreal Alouettes add QB Dresser Winn to negotiation list

The Montreal Alouettes have added American quarterback Dresser Winn to their negotiation list.

The 26-year-old passer played for the Memphis Showboats of the UFL earlier this year and completed 58.0 percent of his passes for 834 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed 13 times for 52 yards and one score.

The native of Dresden, Tenn. has since been a member of the Los Angeles Rams, though he was released by the team prior to the end of training camp in August.

The six-foot-three, 212-pound passer had his first of three stints with the Rams in 2023 after he went undrafted. He rejoined the team later that year following a stint on the practice roster with the Edmonton Elks, though he’s yet to dress for a regular-season NFL game.

Winn played collegiately the University of Tennessee at Martin where he was named second-team All-Conference in 2022. He threw for 5,800 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 24 touchdowns with the team and ran for an additional nine scores.

CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and have never played in the league before. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.

Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.

The Montreal Alouettes (11-8) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (11-7) for the East Final on Saturday, November 8 at Hamilton Stadium with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. EST. The Alouettes defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the East Semi-Final by a score of 42-33, while the Tiger-Cats were on bye after finishing atop the East Division standings.

The weather forecast in Hamilton calls for a high of six degrees with a 30 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN, CTV, and RDS in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 690 in Montreal and the Ticats Audio Network.
