The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added American quarterback Chase Mason to their negotiation list.
The six-foot-four, 240-pound passer is a senior at South Dakota State University has completed 65.7 percent of his pass attempts for 1,419 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception over seven regular-season games in 2025.
The native of Hurley, S.D. is in his fourth season with the Jackrabbits having thrown for a total of 1,819 yards, 14 touchdowns, and one interception. He has also rushed 122 times for 813 yards and 12 scores.
Mason started his collegiate career at the University of Nebraska as a baseball player. He transferred to South Dakota State in 2022, though he missed that entire season due to a torn ACL.
CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and have never played in the league before. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.
Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-8) will visit the Montreal Alouettes (10-8) in the East Semi-Final at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday, November 1 with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. EDT. The two teams met at Princess Auto Stadium in the final week of the regular season as the Blue Bombers came away with a 19-10 victory.
The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 8 degrees with rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN, RDS, and CTV in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and TSN 690 in Montreal.
