Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Canadian Football Hall of Fame appear in clue on ‘Jeopardy!’

Published on

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame were recognized by one of the most popular game shows in the world on Monday night.

In a category entitled ‘Tigers Everywhere,’ Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings read the following clue worth $1,200.

“This Ontario city is home to the CFL’s Tiger-Cats and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum.” The answer, of course, was Hamilton.

This marks the second CFL-related clue recently on Jeopardy! as Doug Flutie was referenced last month for winning three Grey Cups, six CFL Most Outstanding Player awards, and making the NFL’s first successful drop kick since 1941.

The Tiger-Cats were formally established in 1950, though their roots stem back to 1869 as the Hamilton Football Club. The team got its name when the Hamilton Tigers absorbed the rival Hamilton Wildcats and the monikers were combined.

Hamilton (11-7) finished atop the East Division standings and are currently awaiting the winner of the East Semi-Final between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-8) and Montreal Alouettes (10-8).
