Ottawa Redblacks add Ohio QB Parker Navarro to negotiation list

Published on

The Ottawa Redblacks have added Ohio University quarterback Parker Navarro to their negotiation list.

The six-foot, 211-pound passer became the team’s full-time starter in 2024, completing 66 percent of his passes for 2,423 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, and rushing 160 times for 1,054 yards and 18 scores. His rushing touchdowns fell three shy of Ohio’s single-season record, which was set by Nathan Rourke in 2017.

The native of Tempe, Ariz. has remained an effective dual-threat passer in 2025, completing 65 percent of his passes for 1471 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions, and rushing 74 times for 441 yards and four scores.

Navarro started his collegiate career at the University of Central Florida and appeared in five games over two seasons, though he recorded minimal production.

In total, the 23-year-old has completed 65 percent of his passes for 4,127 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, and rushed 275 times for 1,723 yards and 25 scores over 32 collegiate games.

CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and have never played in the league before. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.

Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.

The Ottawa Redblacks (4-13) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (10-7) at Hamilton Stadium on Friday, October 24 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Redblacks, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention, are coming off a 39-28 loss to Montreal, while the Tiger-Cats can clinch first place in the East Division with a victory this week.

The weather forecast in Hamilton calls for a high of 12 degrees with a 30 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa and the Ticats Audio Network.
