Starting tackles Dejon Allen, Jarell Broxton return for B.C. Lions against Elks

For the first time since Week 3, the B.C. Lions will have both of their starting offensive tackles in the lineup when they host the Edmonton Elks on Friday.

Prized offseason addition Dejon Allen will make his return at right tackle after going down with a torn bicep on June 21. The 31-year-old, who was acquired via trade from the Toronto Argonauts this offseason, won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 2023 and was viewed as a potential difference maker for B.C.

Also back on the blindside is left tackle Jarell Broxton, a serious candidate to be named Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman this year. The 32-year-old has allowed just eight pressures in pass protection all season, but missed the team’s last game with an arm injury. It marked his second absence in three weeks.

Exiting the lineup to make room for the pair of stalwart tackles are Chris Schleuger, who has started at the majority of the season at right tackle and will now be a healthy scratch. Rookie Brandon Yates has been returned to the practice roster, with Kory Woodruff kicking back to his usual spot at left guard.

The B.C. Lions (9-7) will host the Edmonton Elks (7-9) at BC Place Stadium on Friday, October 17, with kickoff slated for 10:30 p.m. EDT. The Elks are coming off a win over the Blue Bombers that kept their playoff hopes alive, while the Lions were on a bye week.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 880 CHED in Edmonton and 730 CKNW in Vancouver.
