The Ottawa Redblacks will have a new quarterback under centre this week, according to a report from TSN 1200’s A.J. Jakubec.
Dustin Crum, who has been starting since Dru Brown was officially shut down for the season with a knee injury, has been ruled out for Saturday’s clash with the Montreal Alouettes. The 26-year-old has not participated in practice this week due to a head injury suffered in last week’s loss to the same opponent.
Tyrie Adams has been tapped to start the team’s penultimate game — his first since winning his debut in 2023. The 28-year-old has not thrown a regular-season pass since suffering a torn ACL in that contest. He has completed 31-of-49 pass attempts for 412 yards, one touchdown, and one interception over 21 career CFL games, while rushing 11 times for 81 yards.
Crum has started six games this season, completing 166-of-234 passes for 1,771 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has also rushed 78 times for 429 yards and 11 touchdowns while going 2-4 at the helm.
Both Adams and Crum are in the final year of their contracts. The Redblacks have already been formally eliminated from playoff contention.
Ottawa (4-12) will host the Alouettes (9-7) for their final home game at TD Place on Saturday, October 18 at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Montreal recorded a 30-10 victory against the team last week.
