Winnipeg Blue Bombers rule out Nic Demski against Roughriders

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have ruled out top Canadian receiver Nic Demski due to a hamstring injury for Friday’s game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The 31-year-old native of Winnipeg, Man. suffered a non-contact injury in his team’s 25-20 loss to the Edmonton Elks on Saturday night, during which he made one catch for five yards. Demski has yet to miss a game so far this season, having made 67 receptions for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns over 16 starts at slotback.

The five-foot-eleven, 212-pound target was originally a first-round pick in the 2015 CFL Draft out of the University of Manitoba. He has caught 494 passes for 6,285 yards and 42 touchdowns over 152 regular-season CFL games as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Blue Bombers. He has reached the 1,000-yard receiving milestone in three straight seasons.

The Blue Bombers have listed defensive back Michael Griffin II (knee) as doubtful as he was limited in both practices this week. The 27-year-old, who has recorded 47 defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles, and one sack on the year, has missed the team’s last three games due to injury.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8-8) will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-4) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, October 17 with kickoff slated for 8:00 p.m. EDT. The Riders are coming off a win over Toronto that allowed them to clinch first place in the West Division, while the Blue Bombers lost to Edmonton, failing to clinch a playoff spot in the process.

The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 11 degrees with rainy conditions. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 620 CKRM in Regina and 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
