The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added American quarterback Jordan Cooke to their negotiation list.
The six-foot-four, 234-pound passer has completed 54.5 percent of his pass attempts for 1,694 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions through six games at Idaho State University this season, his redshirt junior year. He has also rushed 12 times for 10 yards.
The native of Santa Rosa, Calif. originally committed to Diablo Valley Community College before transferring to Idaho State in 2023. He completed 58.9 percent of his pass attempts that year for 2,453 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He played sparingly in 2024, taking a redshirt year.
CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and have never played in the league before. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.
Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8-8) will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-4) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, October 17 with kickoff slated for 8:00 p.m. EDT. The Riders are coming off a win over Toronto that allowed them to clinch first place in the West Division, while the Blue Bombers lost to Edmonton, failing to clinch a playoff spot in the process.
The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 11 degrees with rainy conditions. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 620 CKRM in Regina and 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
