Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Jeremy O’Day, Corey Mace to contract extensions through 2028

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Jeremy O’Day, the team’s general manager and vice president of football operations, and head coach Corey Mace to two-year contract extensions, tying them to the team through 2028.

“These last two seasons have been incredibly special for Rider Nation and our football club, and so much of that has to do with the winning culture created by Corey and Jeremy,” said team president and CEO Craig Reynolds in a statement.

“I know we are just at the beginning of what they have created and I look forward to what they are able to accomplish not only as we head into a Western Final at home this season, but for many years to come.”

O’Day had a brief stint as the interim general manager of the Roughriders in 2015 before earning the job on a permanent basis in 2019. He has since posted a 55-46-1 record and helped Saskatchewan reach the playoffs four times, including a berth this year.

The 51-year-old native of Buffalo, N.Y. has held a role in the team’s football operations department since he retired as a player following the 2010 season. O’Day played 12 years along the offensive line with the Roughriders, earning three All-CFL selections and six All-West Division selections. He has won three Grey Cups — two as a player and one in 2013 as Saskatchewan’s assistant general manager.

Mace is in his second year as Saskatchewan’s head coach, posting a 21-12-1 regular-season record since being hired. The Roughriders finished second in the West Division last year before losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final. Saskatchewan will host the West Final next month after clinching first place in the West Division this past week.

The 39-year-old native of Port Moody, B.C. was hired by the Roughriders after a two-year stint as the defensive coordinator of the Toronto Argonauts, where he won a Grey Cup in 2022. He previously served as the defensive line coach of the Calgary Stampeders from 2016 to 2021, helping the team win a Grey Cup in 2018. He also won a Grey Cup with the Stampeders as a player in 2014.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-4) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8-8) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, October 17 with kickoff slated for 8:00 p.m. EDT. The Riders are coming off a win over Toronto that allowed them to clinch first place in the West Division, while the Blue Bombers lost to Edmonton, failing to clinch a playoff spot in the process.

The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 11 degrees with rainy conditions. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 620 CKRM in Regina and 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
