Saskatchewan Roughriders’ quarterback Trevor Harris worked through a midseason injury to his throwing shoulder and came out the other side feeling great for a Grey Cup run.

During the Riders’ 33-27 Week 7 win over the B.C. Lions, defensive lineman Kemoko Turay hit Harris and hurt his right shoulder. The 39-year-old QB completed 23-of-30 passes for 395 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in that victory.

“It lingered for a while. [Head athletic therapist] Greg [Mayer] got some needling done, it was shoulder stuff and stuff that kind of lingers,” Harris said.

“It was one where I held on to it to throw one deep over the top and got jammed underneath. I think No. 58 for BC got me, but I’m good — it’s not affecting performance.”

There was a seven-game span from Week 8 through Week 15 where Harris threw for 300 or more yards just once. In the last two games, he’s thrown for 351 and 341 yards, respectively.

“Nobody’s 100 percent; it’s not anything to write home about of me grinding through some crazy thing. I don’t think there’s very many people out there at 100 percent at this point,” Harris said while acknowledging he played through a partially torn ACL in 2024

The six-foot-three, 212-pound QB said, ‘This isn’t that.’ He was referring to the differences in playing through ligament damage versus his throwing shoulder injury.

“Your throwing shoulder, it can take a little mustard off the ball sometimes, but it wasn’t anything limiting me to some degree,” Harris explained. “One of those things [where it is] hard to get loose, staying loose and monitoring. It’s feeling a ton better now, last week and this week, in particular, I felt probably my best.”

Through 14 starts in 2025, Harris has completed 72.7 percent of his passes for 4,097 yards (292.6 per game) with 22 touchdowns against 11 interceptions while compiling a 10-4 win-loss record.

Head coach Corey Mace has said he’ll consider resting Harris if the Riders clinch first place in the West Division. Saskatchewan needs to beat Toronto on Friday night to earn the right to host the West Final at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday, November 8, at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT.

“I’ve always liked the colder games, the times where it’s getting a little chilly and a brisk air because the games do mean more,” Harris said. “They still count as two points in the win column, if you win, but right now is when it’s the most important time to be playing winning football. Not just winning games but playing winning football and playing championship-level football.”
